Cupping for Patients With Chronic Pain: A Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis

Summary: This meta-analysis suggests that cupping might be a treatment option for chronic pain; however, the evidence is limited due to methodological constraints in the included trials. High-quality studies are warranted to confirm these findings.

Evaluation of Wet Cupping Therapy: Systematic Review of Randomized Clinical Trials

Summary: The review indicates promising evidence supporting the use of wet cupping for musculoskeletal pain, specifically nonspecific low back pain, neck pain, carpal tunnel syndrome, and brachialgia. Nonetheless, higher-quality trials are needed to generate solid evidence.

The Effectiveness of Cupping Therapy on Low Back Pain

Summary: High- to moderate-quality evidence indicates that cupping significantly improves pain and disability in individuals with low back pain. The effectiveness varies based on treatment duration, cupping types, treatment locations, and classifications of low back pain.

Is Cupping Therapy Effective in Patients with Neck Pain? A Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis

Summary: Cupping was found to reduce neck pain compared with no intervention or active control groups, or as an add-on treatment. Depending on the type of control group, cupping was also associated with significant improvement in function and quality of life. However, due to the low quality of evidence, definitive conclusions cannot be drawn.

An Updated Review of the Efficacy of Cupping Therapy

Summary: This review found that cupping has potential effects in the treatment of herpes zoster and other specific conditions. However, further rigorously designed trials are warranted to confirm its efficacy for other conditions.
